Gli MTV Video Music Awards 2020 si sono tenuti all’aperto e con le protezioni, ma è stata comunque una cerimonia memorabile

Gli MTV Video Music Awards sono un appuntamento annuale che premia le produzioni video degli artisti musicali fin dal 1984. Il contenitore naturalmente è MTV, ma spesso ciò che accade agli Awards supera i confini della musica e dà vita ad eventi che entrano nel costume e nella cultura popolare.

Quello di quest’anno è senza dubbio un ottimo esempio: la cerimonia si è tenuta in diverse location a New York, all’aperto, con mascherine e protezioni. Per l’occasione sono state introdotte anche due nuove categorie di premi: Best Music Video from Home e Best Quarantine Performance.

Non si è rinunciato insomma, nemmeno durante questa terribile pandemia, ad un grande spettacolo. Tra i performer ci sono stati tutti i grandi nomi: Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, The Weeknd, BTS, Doja Cat, Tate McRae. Tra i presentatori sono comparsi anche Jaden Smith, Drew Barrymore, Madison Beer, Travis Barker e altri ancora.

Trionfatori della serata sono stati quei nomi un po’ già annunciati: Lady Gaga, BTS, The Weeknd, Megan Thee Stallion e Blackpink. Ovvio che, come sempre, MTV riporta il meglio della scena pop e commerciale: non c’è spazio per i black midi o per Phoebe Green qui. In ogni caso, ecco la lista completa dei vincitori.
