Dai risultati del sondaggio di BBC Culture sono saltati fuori i 100 più grandi film in lingua straniera di tutti i tempi diretti da donne. Sono stati votati ben 761 film da 368 esperti di cinema, critici, giornalisti, organizzatori di festival del cinema e accademici, provenienti da 84 paesi. Secondo quanto riporta BBC sono stati coinvolti lo stesso numero di uomini e praticamente lo stesso numero di donne, 181 uomini e 185 donne. Ogni votante ha votato i suoi 10 film, che poi mischiati hanno restituito questa classifica dei 100 film migliori diretti da donne, dal peggiore al migliore:
