Dallo scorso anno Spotify ha annunciato che vuole riconoscere i produttori, scrittori e ingegnieri dietro le maggiori hit mondiali con un programma annuale chiamato Secret Genius Awards.
La seconda edizione di questo programma, presentata da Ne-Yo, ci sarà il 16 Novembre al teatro Ace Hotel a Los Angeles.
Egli stesso ha dichiarato di essere molto felice per questa iniziativa. Essendo un songwriter ed un artista è a conoscenza del lavoro che svolgono i produttori, scrittori e ingegnieri. Così ha dichiarato quanto è importante riconoscere il lavoro di queste persone che guidano la musica mondiale.
Nello scorso anno sono stati onorati: Rick Rubin come Legendary Genius; Max Martin come produttore dell’anno; J. Kash come scrittore dell’anno e molto altro tra cui una performance di Shawn Mendes e Halsey.

I nominati di quest’anno sono molteplici. Troviamo per esempio: il produttore Louis Bell che ha lavorato all’ultimo album di Post Malone; Manny Marroquin che ha mixato i maggiori successi di questo anno lavorando con artisti del calibro di Post Malone, DJ Khaled e Demi Lovato; tra gli scrittori troviamo Brian Lee che ha collaborato con Camilla Cabello, Selena Gomez, Rita Ora e molti altri.
